Hurstpierpoint 1sts 5-0 Furnace Green Rovers

Hurst progressed into the next round of the Edgar German cup this weekend, brushing past Crawley side Furnace Green Rovers.

Michael McFadden opened the scoring less than a minute into the game, finishing off emphatically a sweeping move down the right hand side.

Hurst controlled the first half in difficult conditions, with the wind against their clearances.

A few chances for Ward, Martin and Lambert went begging before the half finished 1-0.

As in the first half, the Blue Dogs scores in the first minute of the half-Luke Martin scoring a header from a good Macdonald cross.

Shaun Stoneham came off the bench to slot in his first goal for the fronts having hit top form with the Reserves in recent weeks.

Luke Martin turned provider for the fourth. A swift counter attack from right back left a four in two situation and an inch perfect ball across to the back post left Alex Oecken an easy chance to slot in his first of the season.

Jake Godfrey was the third defender to score on the day as the Rover’s defence fell apart and the keeper exposed to a one on one-neatly dispatches.

Into the hat for the Quarter-final.
